We've been in Utah since Wednesday for Dimples' sister's wedding. I guess she decided to get married in December to reflect the nature of her name.
We almost had a fiasco before we even got to Utah. A friend took us to the airport and we got all loaded up. When we were checking our bags, Mad Scientist looks at me and asked, "Where's the duffle bag???" This was the duffle bag with n x 1.6 km (for n>1)'s Christmas presents inside. Yikes! Anyway. We called our friend back. She said there was no duffle bag in the car but she remembered seeing a duffle bag by our garage where we loaded up. Our flight was due to take off at 9:50am and it was 9:05am when we were talking to her. So we decided to try and get it.
Mad Scientist helped us through security and I took all the bags to the gate with the boys. Mad Scientist went back to wait for the bag. I got on the plane with the boys and kept watching for Mad Scientist to come.
And waited.
And waited.
And waited.
Then saw him! Yay!!
Aparently, he got the bag, got through a shorter security line by using a sob story of, "my wife and kids are already on the plane....", ran through the airport in just his socks with the duffle bag and heard "Last call for passenger Mad Scientist" as he got to the gate. Whew. It took us a good 1/2 hour to get our heart rates down.
Anyway. Can we just say it is FREEZING here in Utah? We have come to realize how soft we have become living in CA. We are just not cut out for temperatures in the teens. Yikes! Did we mention we're cold?
Anyway. Much has happened since we got here. Wednesday and Thursday were by far the busiest. Wednesday we flew in and had some in-laws (and cute cousins) pick us up from the airport. Then we headed down to Grandma's house. I'm not sure if we went over any rivers (maybe the Jordan River) and definitely didn't go through any woods to get there. Then n x 1.6 km (for n>1), Grandma and keco's family all headed over the Heber Creeper's holiday Polar Express. They had fun riding trains and singing songs. And Yes, n x 1.6 km (for n>1) still likes trains.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Mad Scientist, Dimples and CED drove up to the wedding dinner extravaganza and bowling afterwards. The Polar Express contingent met up with us for the bowling. The keco's kids and n x 1.6 km (for n>1) were able to get some strikes with a handy dandy contraption that rolls the balls down the lanes. It was the end to a tiring day.
Thursday was also pretty insane. We barely made it to the sealing on time. There was pretty bad weather from American Fork till about 53rd South in SLC. We were going only about 20 mph for much of the way. Then it cleared up and we zoomed the rest of the way to Bountiful Temple. Made it with just a couple minutes to spare. The sealing was beautiful. Pictures were FREEZING!! Anyway. We helped set up for the reception which was a bit stressful, but in the end, it was a great wedding. There were TONS of people, but we're relieved that the hubbub is over.
We've been having a fun time meeting up with friends. And a not so fun time freezing. Burrr!
