There is a funny thing about me. Often, I don't like to jump on the bandwagon of what everyone else is doing. Mad Scientist and I resisted for a very long time to getting cell phones. Our families laughed a good laugh when we finally capitulated. Even when we finally did get cell phones, we only got one phone and it was a very dumb phone. Dumb phones were not so uncommon in those days so that wasn't a bit deal. Then, it was just when we moved to Why-Oh-Uh that Mad Scientist finally got a smart phone. (I still have a dumb phone, but it is one that is text friendly, so I occasionally send out a text to my family and then they keel over in shock because they get a text from me!)
There are just so many other examples of my feet dragging when it comes to following the crowd (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Apple products, etc.) Also, when everyone and their dog was reading Harry Potter, I just didn't want to follow the lemmings off of that cliff. I dragged my feet and finally read them after delaying many years.
One of those things people kept telling me about was Doctor Who. Specifically, the reboot that started up in 2005. Finally, I just bit the bullet and I'm so glad that I did!
Note: Series 1 can be a bit hard to get into. Be patient and it will be worth it. David Tennant (10th Doctor) is particularly awesome!). Some good episodes to get a bit of a taste of Doctor Who would be: "Blink", "The Eleventh Hour" and "Vincent and the Doctor". "Smith and Jones" is also a good intro type of episode.
Anyway. There is a specific episode in Doctor Who is called "Partners in Crime" and the alien creatures are called Adipose.
As some of you know, Mad Scientist works with Lipids. Specifically, triglycerides. So as an Anniversary present, I got him a little stuffed toy of Adipose. Trogdor LOVED Adipose. He helped me get him from the mailbox and wrap him up as a present. And then when Mad Scientist opened Adipose up, Trogdor promptly claimed him until Mad Scientist finally took him to work.
I even heard him running to the living room yelling, "I need the Adipose!!" I'll admit it. He is quite cute. :)
(Trogdor is currently looking at me writing this blog post and making me scroll up so he can see the Adiposes! He LOVES them!)
