Church According to n x 1.6 km (for n>1)

Last Sunday, while we were in Utah, I got to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication that was broadcast to most meetinghouses in Utah. Regular church meetings were suspended for this Sunday in favor of the broadcasts. Since n x 1.6 km (for n>1) is not 8 years old yet, he couldn't go to the broadcast and was a bit disturbed that he wasn't going to church on Sunday.

So, we got home a couple days ago and yesterday, n x 1.6 km (for n>1) decided that he would have church at home. He got out hymn books for both of us and we sang opening, sacrament and closing hymns. And a "middle" hymn as a congregational song. He conducted the music and conducted the meeting. We had prayers and and talks. Then after Sacrament meeting, he went to Primary in his room and brought in the Children's songbook to do singing time (I assume).

Today we had a reprise of just Sacrament meeting. It is so cute to see how much he has absorbed during our meetings. These things are apparently happen at church, according to n x 1.6 km (for n>1):

* Beating the correct time signature is optional while leading the music. (The picture on the right is of him leading the music.)

* It's okay to have 2 congregational "middle" hymns.

* The Star-Spangled Banner is a great song to sing for the sacrament hymn.

* While you are a speaker, it is highly appropriate and encouraged to talk about your dream that you had the night before and your dream should probably have a train in it.

* "Hope we have a great time" are words in the sacrament prayer.

* We are supposed to think about Jesus as hard as we can during the sacrament.

* We can eat crackers for the sacrament as long as we eat them in the kitchen. (He did substitute the word "crackers" instead of "bread" in the prayer).

* Everyone should shake hands at the end of the meeting.

It has been so fun and amazing that he remembers the order of things that happen at church. It has been hard at times keeping a straight face. He sure keeps me laughing and on my toes.

We're Leaving on a Jet Plane

I love my son, n x 1.6 km (for n>1)! This morning he had his airplane roller bag ready for our family trip to Utah tomorrow. He had his stuffed animal horse, Acorn, inside and 2 backup stuffed animals to sleep with tonight. He has his train engineer hat on. He told me he was going to wear his engineer hat the whole time we were in Utah. He has been adding things into his roller bag all morning, including a train, an airplane and a stuffed animal dog to keep Acorn company. He had all the DVDs he's going to watch picked out to bring, including Baby Mozart (which he recently rediscovered has trains in it) for CED. He's been rolling his airplane bag around the apartment all morning. Ah! The excitement of going to Grandma's house!

Wardrobe Malfunction

This morning, n x 1.6 km (for n>1) came out of his room with a bright yellow shirt and navy blue shorts. Normally this would not have excited comment or hysterical laughter, but this morning, it did. These shorts were short. About the length of girl's short shorts. I checked the tag and the size was not the normal size 4 or 5, but rather, 18 months size. Yup. He was wearing CED's shorts.

n x 1.6 km (for n>1) has a job chart where he does one chore per day. The job for Monday is to empty his laundry hamper. He does a great job putting his shirts on hangers and pants & shorts into his dresser. However, CED's clothes are also in the hamper and thus the mix up.

I'm amazed he even got the darn things buttoned and zipped without hurting anything vital.

*User Error* Incorrect Position *User Error*

CED has a funny sense of what is Right in his universe. There are certain things that have to be a certain way. If these things move from his idea of the Correct Position, he must immediately change those things back to the Correct Position. In fact, if you ever want to distract CED and get him to come over where you are, just change one of these things to an Incorrect position and he will promptly crawl over and render the item back to CED's Correct Position. Then all is Right in the universe again.

For example:
If you wanted CED out of the kitchen, you would call his name, push all the buttons so the animals are up on his pop up toy and he'll quickly crawl over and push all the animals down.

Here are some other examples:

This one is a bit more subtle. When all the beads are on the far edges (what most people would call the beginning position), he will promptly move them to the center of each track.

And lastly, we stash all of Caleb's shoes, socks, pants and baby slings in this footstool. He takes it apart at least twice a day.

The (Not So) Secret Agent of Entropy strikes again!!!!
